The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (Huey) Helicopter was in service from 1959-1987 and flew in the Royal Australian Air Force, of which I am a veteran. No. 9 Squadron flew these aircraft in South Vietnam, they were used for troop transport, medevac (medical evacuations of wounded service people) and as a bushranger gunship for armed support during the war. No. 35 and No. 5 Squadron also operated these during the 1970s and 1980s.
